Guidelines and Safety Tips
Since our members are all 18 and over, we know you can look after yourselves – BUT – it doesn’t hurt to be a bit cautious.
You can stumble across weirdos anywhere and we can’t guarantee that everyone on the PCC site is who they say they are.
Here are some general dating safety tips that might be worth bearing in mind:
- Always arrange for a date to be in busy public place (or arrange a double date or a group night out)
- When you have a date planned tell a trusted friend where you’re going to be, and arrange in advance to contact them at the end of the night to let them know you’re back safely
- Even if you live near your date, it might be wise to arrange to travel home independently
- Think twice before agreeing to go back to someone’s home who you don’t know well
- Don’t meet someone if you have a bad feeling about them, feel that they could be dodgy in some way, or have been dishonest and given answers to questions that didn’t correspond to their profile
- Keep an eye on your drink so it won’t be tampered with!
- Don’t put yourself in a position where you might feel isolated or vulnerable
- Don’t put yourself in a position where you could be pressurised to do something you’re not ready for. (Anyone worth dating will understand if you want to take it slow. If they don’t, we say just ditch ‘em and wait for someone who wants to take the time to get to know you. Too many potentially long lasting relationships have fizzled out early because too much happened too soon...)
- If you ever get jiggy with a date, use protection!
